Bienvenido, welcome to our website

Let us introduce ourselves. Both born in the Netherlands some, ahum, years ago (in Gouda and The Hague), we met and started our careers there, had fun social lives, and, all in all, a fine life. Nonetheless, we were itching to get away and start an adventure elsewhere ….

I (Rob) had a steady career, sticking with the same employer (the market leader in fire protection engineering) for 20 years. As a sales manager, I criss-crossed the country and sat behind my desk at our office in Schoonhoven the rest of the week, resulting in some lasting friendships which I deeply cherish.

My (Marco’s) background is in the hospitality industry, getting my first job in a big Dutch roadside restaurant chain when I was in my teens before moving on to hospitality jobs at numerous hotels in Amsterdam and the Hague. From the start I enjoyed the atmosphere and challenge of providing guests with an enjoyable experience. Going to the well-known hospitality management school (Hotelschool) in The Hague was a logical next step to pursue my career in the hospitality business. Little did I know that one day I would be running my own hotel…

 Bed & Breakfast in France

After years of daydreaming about a life in the sunny south of Europe (preferably in an idyllic region in France or Spain), we made it happen in 2008. Together with three friends, we opened a bed & breakfast in the beautiful Provence region in the south of France. To the north of Avignon, we opened Domaine Le Bois des Dames and had an amazing 8 years amongst the lavender fields, welcoming guests from all over the world. Thinking of this period brings an enormous smile to our faces, as we remember contributing to the happy holidays of lots of great people.

 from Croissant to Tapas

After our B&B years in France, we were ready for a new adventure, a new lifestyle and, preferably, even further south…and so here we are, on the sunny coast of Spain, in Málaga.

A lot has happened since we first set foot in Andalusia in early 2018. Our initial idea to “take some time out” to enjoy the Spanish sun only partly came true. We did indeed bathe in the Spanish sun (and still do every day), but our “down-time” only lasted 2 months, as we saw so many opportunities waiting to be grabbed.

In the end, we decided to exchange the French countryside for the heart of Málaga. We found a lovely apartment in a superb location, with views of the city, the cathedral and the Alcazaba. And we’re a stone’s throw from one of the liveliest squares of the city: Plaza de la Merced.

opportunities

We felt an immediate desire to share this city with others, and before we knew it we were planning renovation work and refurnishing the apartments we had snatched up with the objective to, as hosts, offer our guests an unforgettable trip to Málaga. Based on our experience in the holiday business, we wanted to provide the personal touch and contact that is so appreciated by travelers (as opposed to the impersonal approach and speedy key hand off, or even self-check-in, offered by booking offices and travel agents).

 6 comfortable apartments

The builders (along with the headaches that accompany all renovation projects;-) have gone, the apartments are ship shape, and we are getting back into a daily routine and to what we love best: receiving and interacting with our guests. And after the cleaning and check-ins and check-outs, we even find time to plan new projects.

We are always on the lookout for new (ad)ventures, that’s who we are, but we have already learned a valuable lesson from the Spanish about living and enjoying the ‘now’… there is always mañana to get the rest done.
